Nicholas Dean, the principal of New Orleans Crescent Leadership Academy, a predominantly black charter school, was fired after information was leaked of his involvement in far-right activities. Dean appeared in podcasts expressing discontent over the removal of Confederate Monuments in New Orleans and attended several alt-right rallies. He used a pseudonym to hide his identity.
On May 7 Dean was also caught on tape at the Battle of New Orleans, a planned fight between the alt-right and anti-fascists over the removal of the monuments.
The school administrators at the charter school were Dean worked, got wind of his social media post, via the Advocate. The Advocate showed him at separate gatherings attempting to defend the Confederate monuments in New Orleans. Initially, Dean was suspended, as of Thursday, he had been fired.
